Cirrus Logic Makes Unsolicited Bid for Synaptics Ahead of Onsemi Deal Closure

Author

A report from Sina Finance said Cirrus Logic made an unsolicited approach to acquire Synaptics last month, aiming to disrupt Synaptics' merger with Onsemi.

The updated Synaptics proxy filing identifies the party labeled A as Cirrus Logic, and sources said it remained unclear whether Cirrus Logic would press ahead with the bid.

Cirrus Logic's cash-and-stock offer prompted Onsemi to revise the Synaptics deal to an all-cash structure, lifting the per-share offer to $123.

Onsemi said the adjustment was driven by a competing unsolicited acquisition proposal, but it did not disclose the bidder at the time.

The Synaptics board evaluated Cirrus Logic's approach and negotiated with the company before concluding that Onsemi's revised bid was in shareholders' best interests.

Onsemi first announced its Synaptics deal in June to expand its semiconductor business for smart devices.

Stock moves after the news showed Cirrus Logic down about 6% to $106.87, giving it a market value of about $5.4 billion; Onsemi down about 2% to $77.53, with a market value around $30.2 billion; Synaptics up about 0.6% to $119.82, valuing the company at about $4.8 billion.

B3 Targets H1 2027 for Securities Tokenization Platform, Plans Stablecoin

Author

Brazil's B3, the nation's largest stock exchange, is aiming to roll out a securities tokenization trading platform in the first half of 2027. The tokenized securities are expected to be interchangeable with conventional shares and to reflect the same price and liquidity levels, according to Odaily.

The launch had originally been scheduled for the second half of 2026 but has been pushed back to the first half of 2027.

Humberto Costa, B3's Products and OTC Strategy Director, said the tokenized securities would be issued based on existing assets rather than being primarily on-chain, and settlement would continue to follow the current two-business-day cycle.

B3 is also planning to issue its own stablecoin and will seek authorization from Brazil's central bank to operate digital assets and custody services. It remains to be seen whether Brazilian depositary receipts and exchange-traded funds will be incorporated into the platform's infrastructure, and around-the-clock trading or instant settlement would require regulatory approval or a new framework.

Aero Announces Oct. 21 Launch for Aerodrome–Velodrome Merger and Token Swap Terms

Author

Aero has published the terms and timeline for merging Aerodrome and Velodrome, with the swap process slated to begin at 8:00 PM Eastern Time on October 21. At launch, emissions from the legacy platforms end; existing AERO will convert 1:1 into the new AERO, and each VELO will swap for roughly 0.044 AERO, applying the same ratio to both circulating and locked tokens.

ChainCatcher notes that the VELO conversion ratio will depend on the supply available at launch, while Aerodrome holders will receive 94.5% of the new token supply and Velodrome holders 5.5%. DeFiLlama’s data shows the two platforms combined had about $422 million in total value locked as of October 9.

The merger was first announced in November 2025, with Dromos Labs originally targeting completion in the second quarter of 2026. The new model moves away from a weekly voting cycle toward real-time allocation, and sAERO holders will be able to direct rewards to liquidity pools and earn from exchange revenue, subject to a 47-hour cooldown at the start of allocation changes.

Existing veAERO and veVELO positions will convert into new sAERO positions, with any remaining lock time carried over and rounded up to the nearest week. Permanent locks will become the longest-duration stake within the system.

Tokens will not convert automatically. Holders in self-custody must use the upgrade portals on aerodrome.finance or velodrome.finance after claiming rewards, rebasing, and clearing active votes.

High-Yield Junk Bonds Signal Caution as Yields Reach 8.1%

Author

The junk-bond market is showing cracks as investors demand higher yields for riskier debt. Current high-yield rates have risen to 8.1%, up from 7.22% a month ago. Credit spreads across the market have widened to about 315 basis points, while the lowest-rated CCC-and-below segment sees spreads near 1,250 basis points.

Michael Arone, chief investment strategist at State Street Investment Management, said the market is flashing yellow—a warning signal—yet remains far from a crisis.

Kelley Gerrity of Morgan Stanley Investment Management noted that credit quality overall sits at a record high, with BB bonds making up more than 60% of the market compared with about 38% before the global financial crisis.

Collin Martin of the Schwab Center for Financial Research said the widening has been orderly and that it is too early to conclude stress is spreading through the broader credit market.

Investors are watching for a steeper widening in the broader high-yield sector, particularly in the BB tranche, where spreads sit around 194 basis points, up from 179 basis points a year earlier.

R.J. Gallo, chief investment officer for global fixed income at Federated Hermes, said high yield tends to come under pressure when the economy moves toward a sharp downturn, though he does not view a recession as the most likely outcome at this time.

Trump Moves to Use Defense Production Act to Boost Oil and Diesel Output

Author

Reuters, via Jin10, reports that President Donald Trump plans to direct certain department heads to identify methods for curbing diesel prices as U.S. diesel costs sit near record highs ahead of the midterm elections.

The initiative could be issued as a presidential memorandum and would urge agencies to sidestep local and state rules that restrict energy production while considering invoking the Defense Production Act, a Cold War-era authority, to increase oil and fuel output.
