Climate Change Drives Portuguese Man o' War to European Beaches
Climate change-driven ocean warming is linked to more frequent appearances of the Portuguese man o' war along Europe’s Atlantic and Mediterranean shores, according to Sina Finance.
The warnings for beachgoers and incidents of stings have risen, with Arcachon Beach on France’s Atlantic coast briefly banning swimming earlier this month due to the species' presence.
On the Basque coast, authorities reported more than 1,000 stings in the past two weeks.
