The USS Abraham Lincoln completed a 286-day deployment that included a record 264 days at sea and months of combat operations in the Middle East, according to Bloomberg.

Philip Heijmans, a Bloomberg News Southeast Asia correspondent who traveled with the ship to Thailand, said sailors spoke of food shortages, limited contact with family, and uncertainty about when they would return, while many also expressed pride in the mission.
