Shokz has unveiled its first AI-powered earbud, the OpenFit 2 AI, priced at 1,698 yuan, according to Jiemian News. The device runs on the Qwen large language model and supports recording, AI-generated summaries, transcription in 49 languages and voice translation across 11 language categories, targeting office use by professionals such as lawyers, finance experts and consultants.

The launch signals a strategic shift for Shokz, known for bone-conduction sports headphones. After expanding beyond sports with the OpenFit open-ear line in 2023, the company signaled in the second quarter of 2025 a broader open-ear strategy. It later introduced its first ear-clip model, OpenDots ONE, and in May rolled out OpenDots 2, OpenSwim Pro 2 and OpenDots Air.

Industry observers note that the broader open-ear market is becoming increasingly crowded. IDC data show global open-ear shipments rose 39.9% year over year in the first quarter, with ear-clip models accounting for more than half of the market for the first time. Shokz faces rising competition from Huawei and Xiaomi.

Market researchers also project growth in the AI earbud segment, with Research and Markets placing the global AI earbud market at $5.99 billion in 2025, rising to $7.42 billion in 2026 and $17.34 billion by 2030.
