US ITC Opens Probe Into Samsung, Apple and Google Over Audio Patents

Author

The U.S. International Trade Commission has opened an investigation into claims that Samsung Electronics, Apple, and Google infringed patents relating to specific audio technologies used in consumer devices.

California-based BoomCloud 360 filed the complaint, and the ITC has posted the case on its website as part of the proceedings. BoomCloud 360 asserts that three of its patents cover the implicated audio technologies and has asked the commission to block imports and prohibit the sale or distribution of the affected products in the United States.

The three companies named as respondents—Samsung Electronics, Apple, and Google—are required to respond to the complaint within 20 days of receiving notification of the investigation.
