OpenAI Terminates Cursor Partnership After SpaceX Acquisition

Author

OpenAI said it is ending its collaboration with Cursor after Cursor's acquisition by SpaceX, with direct access to OpenAI's models for Cursor set to end on November 12, according to Sina Finance.

The company said it wants developers to broadly use its models, but it cannot guarantee that SpaceX will operate within OpenAI's service terms in its offerings due to past contract violations by several entities associated with Elon Musk. OpenAI noted that after Musk's acquisition of X, there were breaches of its contract terms related to X and other agreements.

Earlier this year, Musk testified under oath that xAI, now under SpaceX, had violated OpenAI's service terms, which were broadly similar to xAI's own terms.
