Israel Plans Partial Withdrawal From Lebanon, Shrinks Border Security Zone
Israel is weighing a partial pullback from southern Lebanon and the establishment of a smaller border security zone, according to Jiemian News. The deployment would move troops closer to the border, reducing the depth of the area under Israeli control in southern Lebanon from about 10 kilometers to roughly 3 to 4 kilometers.
The proposed zone would be designated the Gray Line, replacing the current Yellow Line. The plan awaits official government approval. Under the proposal, the military would set up new outposts inside the reduced zone to serve as bases for operations intended to protect communities in northern Israel.
Jiemian News reported that the Israeli military is preparing for a possible escalation on the northern front and is watching for potential responses from Hezbollah and Iran.
